File setup
Native files are required to produce output for
most supported software. We support all major Mac and Windows software
packages (view the pages for the specific output you need for a supported
software list).
Detailed tips for all services are available on
this web site. We highly recommend you reference
the appropriate section for the output you require
before preparing your file to ensure proper output. Our support specialists
will offer further guidance on setting up your files if needed.
File organization
We recommend your files be organized into folders
as follows:
Output File(s) Support
Graphics
Fonts
Personal / Ignore (if needed)
This organizational setup will help ensure your job is output correctly,
quickly and efficiently.
Send only the files needed to output your
job.
Don't forget, all orders must be accompanied by the appropriate completed
Imagers Order Form. Our online
order system covers most of the services we offer. Use our online order system to
get a quote and complete an order form online. You can then upload your file(s) or print
the form and include with your disc. (Our online order process is preferred, but Acrobat PDFs of
all order forms are available in the downloads
section if needed.)
Supported removable media
Zip CD
DVD
This list is updated as new devices are released.
Check here periodically or call if your device is not listed.
File size and color choices
Recommendations differ depending on the output that
is required. Reference our device guidelines
for resolution and color mode requirements for all of our output devices.
If your graphics do not exceed the suggested dpi
requirements for the output material required, no additional meg charges
will apply. Remember that excessive resolution
(beyond that recommended) results in larger files that take longer to
print with little or no visual improvement in print quality.
Additional meg charges, if applicable, are $2.50 per meg. Extra turnaround
time may be required for large jobs.
Making changes
Don't make a change to an order in process. The job
will be delayed. If you must make a change, call to confirm the change
is possible and then fax those changes to (404) 351-9020. Any change must
be in written form.

Font usage
To ensure font substitutions do not occur, Imagers
recommends you supply all fonts
used in your document. We do support the standard laserwriter fonts in
the Mac and Windows environments.
Mac users should supply
both printer and screen (10 and 12 point size) font files for any PostScript
font. OpenType and Truetype fonts have one font file.
Font files for every OpenType or Truetype font used must be provided.

The printer font icon depicted above is an Adobe
printer font. Other vendors icons will look different.
Screen font families are generally contained in one font suitcase to minimize
clutter.
Any font with a city name (such as Geneva, New York,
Monaco) should never be used. These are usually Macintosh system fonts and are
not valid PostScript fonts. They will usually default to Courier.
Windows users should
supply .pfm and .pfb font files for each font if PostScript, .ttf files
for Truetype fonts, or .otf files for OpenType. PostScript fonts are generally stored on top of the
hard drive in a directory named psfonts. Other fonts are usually stored
in the windows/fonts directory.
Multiple master PostScript fonts require you also supply an .mmm and .pss
file and are NOT recommended. Multiple master fonts have been discontinued, can be quite problematic,
and should be tested first.
Order Checklist
We have prepared an order
checklist for most of our services to help you make sure you have
included all elements necessary for output. Another suggestion is to use
the "Collect for Output" feature available in many software
packages.
Please use our separate Digital
Press order checklist for HP Indigo or Heidelberg printing orders.
Transmitting files
File upload options are integrated into our online
ordering process. Choose "Sending Job by Internet" during the online order process.
Complete the online form and follow the directions for uploading
your file.
You will receive an email of your order form. You
will then receive another email after your upload completes reporting
the status of your upload. Links are provided in the second email if the file needs to be resent.
We also have a send
files area (accessible in the top nav bar from any page on our site). Your order tracking number
and the email address for your order are required to use the send files option.
